Unlocking potential.
Opening doors.
Education is the most powerful tool for breaking the cycle of poverty. At Nation Changers, we invest in learning at every stage of life: from the very youngest children in our communities to adults who never had the opportunity to attend school. We believe it is never too early, and never too late, to learn.
Our programmes
Our education programmes are built on long-term commitment. We show up consistently, provide quality support, and partner with schools and organisations to ensure the impact endures.

Neema Gateway to Reading

- Nation Changers Centre
Literacy is the foundation of all other learning. The Neema Gateway to Reading programme deploys trained volunteers into primary schools in under-resourced communities to teach and support reading skills. Working alongside classroom teachers, volunteers use a structured, proven methodology to help children build reading confidence and comprehension.
Launched in 2015 at Abambo Primary, the programme has since expanded to Phoshani Primary and continues to yield measurable improvements in literacy outcomes. For many of these children, this programme is the difference between falling behind and finding their voice. In 2027 these two schools will continue with the programme independently while Nation Changers looks for opportunities at new schools to become involved.

Adult Literacy
- When
- Tuesdays, 08:30 to 12:00
- Where
- Nation Changers Centre @ CityHill Church
- Led by
- Teachers and volunteers
Many adults in our communities never had the privilege of attending school. Unable to read a form, sign their name or help their children with homework, the consequences are profound. Our Adult Literacy programme provides a safe, respectful space for adults to gain foundational reading and writing skills at their own pace, guided by qualified teachers and supported by compassionate volunteers.
There is no shame here, only growth. Watching an adult read independently for the first time is one of the most moving experiences our volunteers describe.

Early Childhood Development: Creche Support
- What we do
- Volunteer visits, teaching support, infrastructure development
- Beneficiaries
- Multiple pre-schools and creches across KwaZulu-Natal
The first years of a child's life set the trajectory for everything that follows. Nation Changers supports pre-schools and creches in impoverished communities through volunteer visits, supplementary teaching and infrastructure improvements, including building classrooms, ablution facilities, play areas and kitchens.
Through bursaries raised by Nation Changers, many teachers have completed accredited three-year Early Childhood Development diplomas, directly raising the standard of education at the creches where they teach. Each year more teachers are provided this opportunity, and workshops are hosted termly for creche owners and their teams.
