Adhoc maintenance and DIY work is required at most of the projects. A team of willing handymen would be hugely beneficial as in a poverty situation, it goes without saying, people aren’t able to maintain their property and things deteriorate. It’s also vitally important from the point of view of boosting morale and teaching basic maintenance skills. Please put up your hand to help if you’re able to.
Here is a photo of Abambo Primary where we teach reading. On the left is the kitchen which is in a very old building. On the right we see children playing in the grounds. Truckloads of rubble and other rubbish are dumped there and compacted to create an area for parking and a play area. The school is built on land with a steep slope, making the outdoor area very limited. The children play on what is essentially a rubbish dump!
