ABOUT NATION CHANGERS

A loud call for Christian action has gone out to CityHill Church and the Highway Community! “Get out of your comfort zone and pick up the challenge!” Make a difference in our nation!

Now is the time to raise up and do what you can to bring about change and restoration. “To whom much has been given, much is required” (Luke 12:48)

WHAT GOD HAS ASKED US TO DO

  •  Share our food with the hungry
  •  Provide shelter for the poor wanderer
  •  Clothe those in need
  •  Don’t turn away from your own flesh and blood
  •  Don’t exploit your workers
  •  Rebuild the broken walls of your community, so that they will become livable again
  •  Visit the sick
  •  Care for orphans and widows

HOW WE ARE GOING ABOUT IT

There are many non-profit organizations represented at CityHill that are doing all they can to meet the dire needs which are right on our doorsteps. Let’s link arms with these people and do what we can. Choose an event that you can participate in and book your place.

Now is the time to humble ourselves and reach out to the needy and by so doing, we store up for ourselves riches in heaven. The Lord says that when we do these things, He will guide us and satisfy our needs; our lives will be like well-watered gardens, like a spring whose waters never fail. (Is 58:11)

CHILDREN & YOUTH

The youth are our future – nurturing our next generation is imperative to the well- being of our country. As Mandela said: “There can be no keener revelation of a society’s soul than the way in which it treats its children”

Let’s rally together to do what we can to help the children of our community who are suffering from abuse, neglect and a lack of quality education. The God given potential in each one is immeasurable!

In Matthew 19:14 Jesus says, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”

BLESS THE DISADVANTAGED

There by the grace of God go I! Who knows where any of us might be given the wrong circumstances? There is much that we can do to alleviate the suffering of those who are victims of their circumstances. Let’s get out of our comfort zones and do what we can!

Proverbs 3: 27 – 28 “Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act. Do not say to your neighbor, “Come back tomorrow and I’ll give it to you”—when you already have it with you”

PRACTICAL ACTS OF SERVICE

James 2:18 But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.

Let’s roll up our sleeves and get stuck in. We’ll take joy in seeing our efforts transform the lives of those less fortunate than ourselves. Choose the task that best suits you, big or small and together much will be achieved.

Proverbs 11:25 “The one who blesses others is abundantly blessed; those who help others are helped”

SERVE THROUGH CREATIVE ARTS & MUSIC

Sing, dance and make a joyful noise unto the Lord. Allow your creative gifting to bless those in need and experience the smile of God which is over those who generously give of their time and talents. The gifts we have received are not ours alone; God gave them to us for the purpose of serving Him and serving others.

Arts and crafts, knitting and crochet – whatever you do, do as unto the Lord!

Psalm 28:7 “The Lord is my strength and my shield;
my heart trusts in him, and he helps me.
My heart leaps for joy,
and with my song I praise him”

SERVE THROUGH SPONSORING AN EVENT OR PROJECT

Matthew 6:19 tells us: “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal”

Rather build up for yourself treasures in heaven where they are of eternal value. When we give freely out of love, God blesses us with more. We are blessed to be a blessing!

Proverbs 11:25 “A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed”

Micah 6:8 “He has shown all you people what is good. And what does the LORD require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God”
